Aldermen offer new Trust ordinance

This morning, a group of aldermen including Alderman Waguespack and Alderman Arena filed a substitute to the Ordinance Establishing the Infrastructure Trust to be considered at tomorrow’s City Council meeting. The new version of the ordinance is a sign that some aldermen have learned from the mistakes of the parking meter deal.

Six More Days to Improve the Infrastructure Trust

At the City Council meeting today, Alderman Ed Burke and Alderman Patrick O’Connor deferred the Ordinance Establishing the Chicago Infrastructure Trust, a not-for-profit organization designed to leverage private dollars to help rebuild Chicago’s public infrastructure. This move came amid many substantial concerns from aldermen, advocacy organizations and members of the public.

Members of the American Bankers Association recently announced that after years of being ignored in the halls of power, the industry will at last be creating its own super PAC to serve as its proverbial "big stick."
